Don't judge a book by its cover

Hello and hope you’re well. :)

So my favourite Italian show has just finished! It’s called ‘Uomini e Donne’ which in English it is literally translated ‘Men and Women’. It is a talk show that witnesses three young people in their twenties (usually 2 guys and a girl) finding true love among the many suitors that come on the show.

It is very interesting to watch how everything may start as a game (it is a TV show after all) but eventually real feelings surface and people do fall in love with each other.

The reason people love the show so much is cos even though it is televised, it’s real life: these are normal people and not celebrities; you grow with them over the period of 5 months, picking favourites and deciding who could be the best pick for them

That was to give you a little context to what I am about to say. The reason I am writing this is to draw attention to something one of the suitors said before coming to the show.

He said: “ Damn it boy. Don’t fall in love with a girl cos she has a nice bum or a 34GG.

Don’t fall in love with her just for her curves, because with time those will fade.

Rather, fall in love with the smell of her skin, with the feeling she gives you when she smiles.

Fall in love with her hugs and cuddles. Fall in love with her imperfections, make them unique and special. Catch her very essence, be drunk on her soul. Don’t look at her shape, dig into her soul and get to the centre of her heart.

Fall in love with all this cos you will eventually realise, they are the only things that will remain forever. "

This was said from a guy that was covered in tattoos and piercings that people judged straight away as not being serious.

He eventually was the guy that won the girl's heart and took her home.

My purpose is to be like God in all I do. He says: 'man looks at the appearance but I look at the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7).

The guy was talking about love but we could extend that quote to any other area that involves dealing with people.

Let's learn to not judge people by how they look but let's dig deeper.

Fight procrastination!

Yo! Procrastination is the real devil. I am sure that there are worse evils in the world but there is nothing that kills your dreams more than procrastination. Procrastination is what the enemy also uses to kill all your goals and plans without you even FULLY realizing.

You would think that postponing something is not THAT BAD cos you are not saying “I am not doing it” but rather “I am doing it LATER!” It doesn’t sound bad right? At the end of the day you have not refused to complete a task AT ALL but you have just postponed its completion.

And this is my current situation: as a princess, I am called to millions of things to attend to. There is so much potential inside of me and so many passions and desires that I need to explore.

The problem is, working full time in the firm, makes everything more complicated as from the 24 hours I have in the day, once you take out work, travel time, eat and sleep I have 5-6 hours. In my opinion that is not much to get a lot of the things I want done. But I’ve been on a journey titled “HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT?” and what I learnt from it all is that ‘when the pain of not doing something is stronger than the pain of doing it, then you will begin whatever you know you need to do.’

I can relate this to a lot of areas in my life but especially in going to the gym. I know that the pain of not going is becoming stronger than the pain of going, actually waking up in the morning, walking those 5 minutes and doing those exercises.

I have to be totally honest with you, I am not there yet: the pain of not doing is stronger than the pain doing it for the few times I have been to the gym but it is still not enough to get me out of the bed all the time.

I can sit here and dash 100 million advice on how to fight procrastination that someone else in the past or present world has already given out and probably made loads of money about it while leaving people still struggling. However, one thing I've learnt is that procrastination is THE thorn in the flesh for some of us and it is one of those pitfalls is hard to get out of.

I am the kind of person that lives a few years ahead: I am not as bad as I used to be but I always like to get to my destination fairly quickly especially when I know which one it is. However, I am now learning to live the present one step at a time, day by day. The hardest step to take is the FIRST but once that is taken, and we push ourselves to take the SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH steps, the engine would have started and the process will start running from thereafter.

So I am gonna go to the gym tomorrow morning. My motivation? As much as I love my bed I don’t want to live a life of regrets.

Let me know what you guys will take the first step in this week in the comments section below.

Be brave.
